Photo #007

Okay, I need a photo for today and didn’t have anything prepared, so I’ve just picked a random picture from my collection that I quite like and put it on here.P1080782

It took me ages to get a non-blurry shot of these flowers, they kept moving in the breeze! I like the colours but the white splodge in the background is a bit distracting. It would be pretty easy to edit out but this is just straight from the SD card.

Word #002

Metamorphosis noun

1 Zoology The process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages (insects and amphibians). A change in form or nature.

There are many stories in which metamorphosis means the ability to change into an animal or to change appearance. For example; in the Harry Potter series the character Nimfadora Tonks is a metamorphmagus (a word invented by J.K. Rowling), meaning that she can change her appearance at will. Metamorphosis is also frequent in Greek Mythology, with the gods often turning humans into plants or animals, e.g. Athena (goddess of wisdom) turned Arachne into a spider, Artemis (goddess of the hunt) turned Actaeon into a deer, and Daphne was turned into a tree whilst trying to flee the god Apollo (god of music and truth).
